Welcome to the McKinney-Vento Program
The Mobridge-Pollock School District is committed to ensuring all students have equal access to education, regardless of their housing situation. Under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, we provide support and resources to students and families experiencing homelessness.
Who Qualifies for Assistance?
Students who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence may qualify for support. This includes children and youth who are:
• Sharing housing with others due to economic hardship.
• Living in motels, hotels, campgrounds, or emergency shelters.
• Residing in cars, parks, public spaces, or abandoned buildings.
• Unaccompanied youth without a guardian or parent.

How We Can Help
The McKinney-Vento Program provides:
• Immediate school enrollment without the usual required documentation.

• Academic support and referrals to community resources.

A: Yes, students eligible under McKinney-Vento have the right to remain in their school of origin if it’s in their best interest.
Q: What documents are needed to enroll my child?
A: None. Your child has the right to immediate enrollment even if you lack typical enrollment documents such as proof of residency, immunization records, or previous school records.
