Welcome to the McKinney-Vento Program

 The Mobridge-Pollock School District is committed to ensuring all students have equal access to education, regardless of their housing situation. Under the McKinney-Vento Homeless Assistance Act, we provide support and resources to students and families experiencing homelessness.

Who Qualifies for Assistance?

Students who lack a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence may qualify for support. This includes children and youth who are:

Sharing housing with others due to economic hardship.

Living in motels, hotels, campgrounds, or emergency shelters.

Residing in cars, parks, public spaces, or abandoned buildings.

Unaccompanied youth without a guardian or parent.

How We Can Help

The McKinney-Vento Program provides:

Immediate school enrollment without the usual required documentation.

Assistance with transportation to ensure school attendance.

Free school meals.

Access to school supplies, clothing, and other resources.

Academic support and referrals to community resources.

Q: Can my child stay at their current school if we move to a different district?

A: Yes, students eligible under McKinney-Vento have the right to remain in their school of origin if it’s in their best interest.

 Q: What documents are needed to enroll my child?

A: None. Your child has the right to immediate enrollment even if you lack typical enrollment documents such as proof of residency, immunization records, or previous school records.
